Kamani is a dynamic dancer and choreographer based in New York City. He began his journey at Pieces of a Dream under Ashley SK. Davis. After attending a workshop at Delaware’s Christina Cultural Arts Center, he decided to pursue dance full-time in 2019. Kamani received a full scholarship to attend the Wilmington Ballet, directed by Benjamin Sterling Cannon and Christopher Davis, with support from The Clark Foundation. In high school, he performed his choreography entitled Father for AIDS Delaware and was named Delaware’s Teen Idol in 2021. He later attended the Fordham University/Alvin Ailey BFA dance program in New York City and graduated in May of 2025. In 2023, Kamani performed Geoffrey Holder's Dougla at City Center with the Dance Theatre of Harlem company and represented the AILEY school at the Assemblée Internationale festival in Toronto at Canada's National Ballet School. After the festival, Kamani was awarded and became the first dancer to receive the Springboard Grant offered by the Bruce Montgomery Foundation in Philadelphia, allowing him to attend BalletX’s summer and winter intensive in Philadelphia. That fall, he performed Mr.Ailey's Memoria with the AILEY company and With Gratitude, choreographed by Tracy Inman (co-director of the Ailey school), honoring Denise Jefferson for AILEY's honoring women program at city center. Kamani then joined Ailey II as an apprentice for the 2024-2025 season, now a second-year company member for their 2026-2027 season, performing works by various acclaimed choreographers. As a teacher, Kamani has shared his knowledge across multiple dance styles with students aged three to fifty and has choreographed works for institutions such as Wilmington Ballet and local churches in the Delaware area, as well as film projects. His journey reflects a steadfast commitment to dance and a desire to inspire future generations.
